This unit was installed when the house was built, in late 2004.

It's a Infinity 38TDB048301. We understood at the time that they put an extra large coil inside the house, which makes it even more energy-efficient?

But this spring since we turned it on, it seems to be running all the time, just to keep up. It only shuts off in the very early morning hours when it's cool outside. The fan is on auto, so I know it's not just that.

We haven't had a particularly hot spring here, it was 90 today, I think.

But I measured the output air temp and it's 60 degrees, with the inside house air set to 70 and staying there.

It seems like it used to put out 50 degree air when cooling, and maybe that's why it's having to run all the time?

I changed the air filter yesterday but that didn't help. When it was built, we had a 16x25x5 merv 8 filter installed in a frame on top of the unit with a little hatch door to change it, so that works nicely.

I also went out and washed out the coils on the compressor outside, and made sure all the dust was washed off them. To prevent shocking the coils, I always spray a light mist through them for a few minutes when I do that, then set the nozzle to a stream.

This unit uses the new Puron gas, but I don't know what difference that might be making. Does it leak out more easily?

Does anyone have an idea what might be going on with this?

I'm hoping it's still under warranty, service calls cost a fortune.

Melissa

If your evaporator coil model number starts with CE3AXA, you probably have a leaking coil. The replacement coils start with CSPHP. They seem to be a better grade product.
