been trying to get more cooling from 4 ton unit. In Houston ambient temp 94 and humidity 80%. High side is 300psi and low side 63psi. No sweat on suction line and poor cooling. blowing 68 degree air at outlets. Tried adding more freon and low side went up to 70psi and high side 0ver 300psi. Still no sweat on suction line. House not cool. Anyone have a suggestion.

Hang in there. We have a tech from Houston on staff. What is the age, make and model # and size of house for him to help you with.

Sounds like a 10 seer condenser with a universal motor.
Wash the condenser, allow it to dry, and list your new pressures along with the liquid line temp and suction line temperature.

What is your metering device, TXV or piston?
Air filter clean?

It was hot today.
Wish I wasn't on call this weekened.

Fixed: Followed instructions to wash condenser and when I started it up the low side pressure dropped to 50PSI. I could hear the compressor was working less hard. Let it stabalize and added freon up to 62 psi on low side. Sweat appeared on suction line and the ducts inside the house began blowing 60 degree air. House is cool and your advice even cooler. Thanks. PS: the condenser was really dirty. used Spray soap and then garden hose rinsed 4 times until all dirt and debris cleared. WOW what a difference.

Everybody should wash their condensor coil. Makes a huge difference. Wonder why people will spend over $4000 on a unit and not spend $95 on an annual service. Max no sense to me.
