i'm very early in a miserable complete remodel and simply want to unhook the heat pump outside in prep to move it and reattach in 12-18 months..do i have to have a tech come out? can i simply cut or dissconnect and let the refrigerant leak out? thanks (live out in the country)

Refrigerant is expensive and harmful to the environment.
You should have the unit pumped down.

"Tip of the Day" Remember to remove power first.

Refrigerant lines need to be capped/sealed properly etc etc. Not a DIY project.
