i have a janitrol air cond. when i turn it on it will start up but after about 5 min the outside fan will stop but the inside is still blowing cold air. there is a humming sound when the outside fan quits.

Does the capacitor resemble this one?

i'm not for sure. if you tell me where it is ill see. im the type of person ill try to fix it myself before getting someone to. if i cant fix it and know that i cant thats when i get someone over. lol

The capacitor is inside the panel of your outdoor unit.
