OK last week I was getting no power to my furnace. Theduke03 was really helpfull so hopefully he will read this. I call a local furnace comp to come out and tell him what's up with rodent damage causing a short. He does his checks puts in a new transformer then says it blew. He put in another one and then says my circuit board is bad and will cost $300 and he needs to order it. Something seemed wrong so I decided to investigate further myself. I turn on power and funrace and it works fine-so I ma thinking all it was is transformer and I am getting scammed. I go to turn on the A/C and it does not work. I look at the wires and this guy has changed things I assume to make it not work! So what do you think?
Thanks
Jason

Hey Jason. Hard to speculate on what your tech did. Did he list repairs on the invoice? Obviously there is a short somewhere if new transformer blew. Maybe the circuitboard was shorted? Not sure if you read my last post on your previous thread but I recommended adding a fuse and included basic instructions. This is to prevent tformers from blowing again. So are you saying that your heat will run?

Thanks duke. Yes magically my furnace (heat) runs fine. The tech listed nothing on the bill stating he needed to order the board. So how on earth does my furnace work if the board is bad? The blower even runs when turned on on the thermostat. But when I turn the AC unit on nothing happens? I feel like he has changed wires somewhere so it will not turn on? Is it possible to blow a transformer if power was off to the AC unit and then someone turns on the AC at the thermostat? That is what my wife did. Does that even make sense? What pisses me off is that my 2 infant children froze to death over the weekend because I was told the furnace would not work!
Thanks
Jason

Well, your tech might be a hacker. Sounds like the board is working great. Perhaps something else is wrong. Set stat to call for a/c and go to outdoor unit. Check for 24v between Y and C where the tstat wire connects to unit. Look for any wires that may have been removed/disconnected.
