Hello, I just installed an older AC sytem in my shop...it is a Bryant air handler and a Trane condensing unit. I am getting cofused on the low volatage wiring.
I understand that I need to send 24vac to the contactor on the comperssor, but now sure how that is done properly.
Do I take the Y wire going to the t-stat and connect it to the Y terminal on the air handler and also connect the yellow wired going to the compressor to the Y terminal. Then connect the other wire from the compressor to the R or Hot 24vac terminal...or to the common terminal. Just now sure how to complete the circuit. Thanks

The Y goes straight to the condenser. Whatever color you are using for common also goes to the condenser. Assuming this is a straight AC and not heatpump.

You are correct about Y. The other wire is common(C). Connected to C at air handler.

OK, so do I connect the yellow wire from the thermostat to the Y terminal on the air handler and the yellow wire from the condenser to the Y terminal on the air handler? Or do I just connect the Yellow wire from the thermostat directly to the yellow wire from the condenser?

Yes, connect both Y's to Y on the air handler.

I got it working, just had my colors crossed at the condenser. So all is working fine now. Thanks for all the help!
