I have a lennox unit that is coming on for a couple minutes then kicking off fo a couple minutes then coming back on, only to kick off again in five minutes and then wont come back on at all. I had the compressor replaced a little over a year ago. I had a couple other issues which led to me replacing the capacitor, Time delay and the contactor last week on the outside unit. I had a technician come out and check the inside unit and he said it was ok. I have replaced the T stat. Is there another part that communicates with the compressor about when to kick on and off. the cooling fan for the compressor works just fine even thoughwhen the compressor kicks off and on, it changes its spin direction.
Thanks for the help.
Thanks

Post the model and serial # of the unit here. If the "cooling", condensor fan is going backwards then something is drastically wrong. It will cause excess high pressure on the compressor and overheating. The tech should be able to stay there for 1/2 an hour and see what is happening. Need to see if it is getting a steady 24 volts from the tstat etc.

The fan only changes directions when the compressors kicks off the first time. Also, I can turn the unit of at the T stat and leave it for a few minutes and turn it on and the compressor will kick on again. The unit model is the lennox pulse 21. I cant find numbers on it anywhere.
Thanks

The furnace is a Pulse 21 but I would like to know the model of the outdoor unit. I am a Lennox tech. Sounds like you have an electrical problem and you need an experienced tech to sit with the outdoor unit and see if it is getting a steady 24 volts. You may still have a bad tstat depending on which one you bought. The ones most of us recommend are the Honeywell Focus or Vision Pros. That furnace has a weird and almost obselete electronic fan timer board to start the fan on heating and it can be causing interference. Best to find an experienced Lennox tech who knows about those furnaces, a breed of their own.
