I have blower motor in my 8 yr old cariier furnace that will not start up on it's own. I just get an electical motor humming noise and the motor turns very slow. I was told that if you can give the motor a little help to get it going ( which it does run fine if I do) that the capacitor may need replacement. Anyone have any thoughts please.

Probably needs a new capacitor and you should replace it soon or your motor will overheat. Should have a microfarad rating stamped on it. Usually 5mfd or 7.5 mfd by 370 VAC. Need to wear gloves when handling it and discharge it to ground with a screwdriver or you get zapped.
