I have a Goodman heat pump combo. It stopped working last week. searching thru the forums I decided to do some troubleshooting. whenever I send to cool the breaker trips. The fan will spin slowly if the t-stat is set to off. I started disconnecting wires from the contactor and with the red lead that looks to go to the condenser disconnected the breaker wont trip. Do I have a bad condenser? Would it be cheaper to replace the condenser or the entire unit? thanks, ced.

It would be advisable and more reliable to replace the entire unit. You can get a available 10 year parts and labor warranty.
You will only get 1 year parts and probably much less than that labor, only replacing the compressor.

You would need a new matching fancoil when replacing a heatpump, so it wouldn't be cheaper, initially.

0 ohms to ground would be a bad thing. Does this red wire only connect to the compressor in this test?
