I just had a Goodman 16 SEER "3" ton heatpump installed. The indoor air handler sounds like a HURRICANE whipping through my house. I read the install book and I see that on the on/off table that it appears that they have the unit set for a "5"ton which is "1800" CFM. It should be set at 3 ton which is 1200 CFM and with a switch position (#7 switch on for a 10% increase). The installers have been back and say that you will get used to the sound!!! What!! Am I hurting the 3 ton compressor! How do I tactfully get the install guys to read their manuals without "pissing them off". They consider me a "picky" customer. I will not apologize for being a "picky customer". Please help!? Also it is a variable speed and I only get the hurricane speed.

It is not efficent for the sytem to run at that hihg of a velocity.

Absolutley not, do not settle with the incompetence of the installers call the manager and make them relate to your experience.

You won't get proper cooling and with that high velocity it may lift the water off the evaporator coil and/or interfere with the drainage of it.

Thanks for comments. I had the head tech come out and I actually had to hand him the install book where I had circled the proper various on/off switch positions and had them set them. Back to proper cooling! Everything semms fine. I had a hard time writing them a check!

Those are the type of "techs" that install Goodman. I call them hackers and in your case they proved it. Did they charge you for that? If so you should cancel that check. Did they check the system pressures and temps after the blower adjustment? If not then they are even bigger hackers and you should have them back again to make sure the compressor is not slugging liquid refrigerant.

I will check (bring them back) to make sure they rechecked the system Pressures/temps. I need to give myself a break ( I am so pissed!) I will probably call them Monday. My wife wants me to find a reputable Tech to come out and check everything they did, even if it costs us extra. These guys Had a good reputation with the BBB and were on Angies List as recommended AC experts. Go Figure!!
