The pressure relief valve on our Weil-Mclain boiler was replaced about two weeks ago because it was flooding water. The replacement worked for about 2 days and then it started dripping water and continues to drip. I lowered the pressure by draining the boiler to 5 psi and then adjusting the fill valve. I did this last friday and it has gradually increased in psi. It reached 35 psi again yesterday. Is there something I can do to keep the pressure regular? Do we have to drain the boiler to adjust the fill valve? The gauge currently reads 37psi and 70 degrees. Thank you.

Definately replace that fill valve. In the meantime you can close the shutoff valve before the fill to prevent any more water being fed to system

Is the replacement something we can do ourselves or can you recommend someone in the NY, Queens area?
Thank you for all your help, yuri and theduke03.

I wouldn't recommend it unless you're very handy. The system will need to be drained(easy). There will be some soldering involved and then the system will have to be purged to remove the air that will be let into system. I'm not sure if there's any New Yorkers on this site to refer someone but try asking friends/family/neighbors/coworkers for a good reference in your area. Those fill valves/regulators are notorious for failing/not regulating properly. They sit there unused for long periods of time and when they do open, rust etc is under the seat and they don't work properly. Probably need a new one. A Welltrol bladder type expansion tank is also a good idea.
