I am getting ready to replace a residential HVAC with a Goodman 2.5Ton 14seer (scroll comressor) matched to a 3ton evaporator. Goodman specifies the use of a non-bleed TXV, however this system has a total lineset length of 80' (35' vertical). It seems like I should install a bleed-type TXV, but I cannot find any documentation on using a TXV with a long line set. I believe I can still achieve 14 SEER by using a fixed orifice instead of the TXV since the evaporator is over-sized, or should I stick with the non-bleed TXV? comments/recommedations?
Thanks!

Check with Goodman and the specs. You will need to upsize your suction line once and possibly the liquid line once you go over 50 ft. The bleed aspect is for hard starting purposes. The TX valve gives constant superheat and thus better efficiency than a piston/orifice.
