I am not an HVAC guy but I do most of my own repairs around the house. I have a Rudd Silhouette II downstairs unit that seems to be having a problem. The Heater exaughst fan (I think that is what it is-located right inside the heater door with a out take pipe leading outside) is turning on and off randomly while the air conditioning runs. The heater ran fine all witer and the AC runs fine even with the fan turning off and on. I noticed a slight wizzing sound from the upstairs that alerted me to this problem. It doesn't seem to be harming anything but it always bothers me when something doesn't run like it should. I welcome any advise. Thanks!

You do have a problem and it should be fixed. It is called a ventor fan and it should not be starting. Had a similar problem with an old Heil and a cheap Hunter tstat. The cheap tstats have poorer grade of electronics and it can aggravate the circuit board and cause it to do weird things and damage it. I recommend the Honeywell Vision or Focus Pro tstats. Or you have a bad circuit board which may fail completely during the Winter.
