I have a weather king unit. It is cooling just fine. My problem is when the temperature reaches the desired level that the thermostat is set on and the unit kicks off... the fan on the outside keeps running but it is not blowing any air. I can turn the thermostat down and the unit kicks on and blows air again. Turn the thermostat up and it quits blowing but fan is still running. I know this may sound weird because i sure think it does... I cut the main breaker in the house to cut electric from everything and the fan still kept running. Any help on this would be great because it is beyond me!!!

If you really shut the main breaker to everything for your house and your fan was still running then I would say your first problem is: Your unit is wired to your neighbors house or you are looking at your neighbors unit.

By "main breaker" is that the actual main breaker that shuts down your entire house? If you are refering to the breaker for the cooling system there are two. One for inside unit usu. labeled: furnace, air handler, blower, etc. Another for the outdoor unit: a/c, condenser, condensing unit, heat pump, compressor, outdoor unit, etc.

I've seen the condenser wired to a disconnect out by the meter and not wired to the main panel before. Usually in old houses in River Oaks where AC was added years after the house was built. I've also seen this with 3 phase units.
If the fan continues to run after 24 volt power is removed, but the compressor turns off, a short may be present along with a faulty ground. Be Careful.

you were right duke. there was another breaker on the outside that was keeping the fan running after the main breaker to the house was turned off. thank you all for the replies. i think im going to just leave it off and fire up the window unit until someone who knows what they are doing can come and take a look at it.
