My father-in-law has a Lennox heat pump with a Lennox propane furnace and 38G6901 t-stat (all about 19 years old). An independent HVAC repair person has told him that his t-stat is bad but that he can't find a suitable replacement model. That seems unlikely to me.
Can anyone recommend a suitable replacement for a Lennox 38G6901 t-stat? It does not have to be programmble.

I recommend a Honeywell Visionpro TH8320 or TH8321 for dual fuel systems. Does it have a fossil fuel kit on it now? If not you want the optional outdoor sensor for dual fuel control.
Lennox used an alternate terminal identification. This is the cross reference.
If you have a functioning fossil fuel kit already installed you can use any Honeywell, Robertshaw, or White Rodgers multistage heat pump stat. It would look something like this...
