I have a Goodman self contained heat pump unit using a Janitrol hpt 18-60 thermostat. I want to replace it with a Robertshaw 9420 thermostat. However, I'm not sure about some of the wiring. I have 5 wires hooked to Janitrol as follows:
Y terminal = yellow wire
G terminal = green wire
R terminal = red wire
O terminal = white wire
E terminal = blue wire
C terminal = nothing hooked here
E is jumpered to W2 with a copper wire
The Robertshaw manual shows where the 5 wires go, but also lists a C terminal as 24 VAC, Transformer Common Side. Is there supposed to be something hooked to this terminal? And do I need to jumper anything? Hope someone can help me out here.

That C terminal needs to be connected to common(C) in the air handler. If you have an extra wire you can connect it to C at both ends or get another stat, or pull an extra/new t-stat wire.
W2 should be jumpered to E.

I agree with Duke, C is required.
