Hi,

I have a Goodman (GMP-125-4). When I select the cooling cycle, the o/s AC Fan runs and the compressor operates as designed. The furnace blower runs on what sounds like the low speed setting when and if it starts. I say "when and if" because sometimes the it just hums. When it does run, it runs on the low setting, is the high speed relay bad?
As a result of the low speed, I get lot of condensation on the outside of the unit by the "A" coil. I guess this is because the fan is not running at a higher speed and thus not moving conditioned air?
Any suggestions? Thanks for any help.

KenAsh...

It's probably your capacitor. Remove power and wait 2 minutes for your cap to bleed down before handling. Match voltage and microfarad.

a 5 mfd 370 volt example...

It's usually strapped to the blower.

A $30 meter from sears can measure caps.

"Tip of the Day" Remember to remove power first.

Hi Houston,
Thanks for the reply. The capacitor was the first think I replaced as it was the most likely, in my mind too and the cheapeast. When I did the repacment, it worked fine for a couple of weeks. But then, I began to notice a lot of condensation on the surface of sheet metal, behind which, the "A" is located and very little air out of the vents. I removed the humidifier to have a peek, thinking the coil was iceing and blocking the plenum, but, found nothing. During all of this, I sensed the blower was running on "low" speed" thus, not moving the cooled air through the system. The circuit board is a B18099-06, the unit, is about 15 years old now.
What do you think?

Probably your motor. Do you have 120 volts to black and neutral at your motor when it is acting up?
