I have a Tappan 4 ton 12 seer unit. My problem is the unit is not cooling. The outside fan is running. Every now so often there is a humming noise coming from the outside unit. Any suggestions?

Sounds like the compressor is pulling lock rotor amps, aka dead compressor. Call a pro
