We have a Rheem RPKA-036JAS Heat Pump that was recently recharged, but following a violent storm, condenser fan will not come on. Unit hums and can feel heat from outside condenser unit. Have since turned unit off. Any advice will be greatly appreciated. Thank You.

Call a service company and have them replace the fan motor.

If the fan spins freel when power is removed it is probably only your cap. Capacitor can hold a charge for a couple of minutes after removing power. Remove power, wait 2 minutes and short across the terminals and terminals to ground before handling.

Since it is a heatpump, it could also be the defrost control board.

"Tip of the Day" Remember to remove power first.
