Hello, I have a pretty stupid question. I had broken one of two original screws on the mounting bracket for my txv bulb that you use to attach the bulb to the suction line. The suction line of course being copper along with the bulb... I'd assume the bracket is either copper or brass. The repair man used my remaining original mounting screw on the bracket (copper or brass??) and one that he said was zinc. Will this zinc screw on my bulb mounting bracket do any damage corrosion wise? Should I be looking for a brass or copper screw/nut to change it out? He seemed to think it would last longer than my system, but I want to be sure I won't be doing any damage to the bracket, suction line, etc. If I should change it, would it be a brass screw or copper? Any help is appreciated, as I am probably making a mountain out of a mole hill.

The original screw was brass. The replacement screw I was told to be zinc. Would this screw also last on a bulb mounting bracket or would it corrode and ruin anything more than itself? I believe the bracket is brass (copper??) If it would corrode, would it just be in the area of the screw itself, or would corrosion travel to the bulb from the mounting bracket? I hope this would also outlast my system or at least not corrode to my bulb from the mounting bracket.

It will last longer than your system. A brass nut and bolt should not be hard to find at your hardware store.

Went to my local large name brand home improvement store, didn't find much in the way of brass screws or nuts, still may keep looking if need be.

If the thought of a different metal touching the copper that holds your refrigerant bothers you, do not open the evaporator coil panel.
