you need to check the wiring on the circuit board in your furnace.there is a t-stat wire usually 4 to 6 wires in a bundle color coded, red, green, yellow, white, blue.they are connected to a board inside the bottom door of the furnace, these wires are connected to the t-stat.usually they are run red to R,white to W etc...in the furnace and at the t=stat.match the wiring at both spots and it should work.if your t-stat has a Rh and a Rc then cooling will work with red connected to Rc.hest will work with R connected to Rh.

The only thing that comes to mind is that you have the wrong thermostat.
Pictures can be posted on this site using www.photobucket.com upload your pictures, left click the IMG Code, right click and paste on your post.
Do you have a heatpump? The model number of the outdoor unit plus pictures of the stat wires at the stat, the air handler and the outdoor unit will be required to trace this.

What is the rest of your model number. I see 1F78-167 , 1F78-151, 1F78H-144 on their site under single stage stats.
There is no listing for multistage heat pump or multistage stat in the 1f78 heading.
Your "Is under" terminology is a bit confusing. Are you saying that at the air handler... R = red Y = yellow G = blue W2 = not used W1 = white O = brown C = not used
