I have a Lennox UHG series furnace and a Lennox A/C and recently the furnace will randomly kick on while the air is running. It will be cooling - therm. set to 70 temp in house 72) and all of a sudden the furnace will turn on and blow hot air through the vents. Is it the thermostat or a bigger problem?? Any help would be appreciated.

Has the thermostat been replaced with a digital display thermostat recently?

Yes we had to replace the thermostat about a year ago. This one has more functions than the original one did. Thanks

Not saying that this is the cause, but some digital thermostats can feed back power to the furnace and cause it to come on. I would recommend having the system checked by a pro to determine what is happening on your system.
