My blower motor made a load noise in the attic. When I took the panel off the entire blower motor housing had come loose. The metal had sheared off where it was screwed in leaving the screws. I talk to a repair guy and he said that he cannot get the housing from carrier because it is discontinued. He said the only thing I can do is replace the entire furnace. They have to be crazy. Is there a place that sells used blower fan housings? The furnace model is 58RAV115-16120. Any ideas?

It seems hard to believe that you cannot get that blower housing anymore.
I would call 1-800-Carrier and ask them. While it is remotely possible, I think the guy is trying to sell you a new furnace.
I like the 58RAV series. I feel like I have serviced thousands of them, though it's probably less.
