AC has been working fine for 5 years. Yesterday, it stopped blowing cold air. When we got home from work everything was working fine, it was at around 9:00 p.m. that we noticed the AC outside turn off. We thought it had reached the temperature and was shutting off. Well it never shut off, it just wasn't as loud as it had been. Now the outside unit is on but isn't loud as it's been. The fan turns, and I can feel air coming out. The air handler is on and working. I notice no condensation on anything. I've reset the breakers ... anyone have any ideas?

Thanks

Dual capacitor outside has swollen and needs replacement.

It will probably resemble a beer can left in the freezer overnight.

Caps can hold a charge for a few minutes after removing power.

Be Safe.

"Tip of the Day" Remember to remove power first.
