So recently I have started having a problem with my home heat pump, it is a Goodman. What happens is the thermostat turns on the compressor, but the air handler fan does not turn on to circulate the air inside the house. I have talked with the thermostat customer service and they say their thermostat only has one relay on it and I know that relay is working. I tried changing out the thermostat and the problem remained. The problem is intermitent, which is always the most frustrating. I can't find any information anywhere with someone else having this problem. I had an AC man out to look at it and he just said it was a bad thermostat which wasn't much help as I have pretty much ruled out the thermostat being the problem. Does anyone have any ideas? Much appreciated.

Matt

Sounds like a bad board in the air handler.

I would rule out the capacitor and the motor drawing excessive amperage first. You would need an amp meter and a cap meter. (A Fieldpiece meter would do both)

Have you visually inspected for any melted wiring?

could this be locking up in defrost mode?is the indoor coil getting cold with no fan operation?the unit ,in heat mode ,will periodicly defrost itself by reversing the refrigerant.is there a defrost LED light in the outdoor unit?if so,next time it happens, check the light.
