recently moved into this new house. Units are a few months old. One of the units has quit on me twice in 6 weeks. Repair man says it is a "faulty valve" that is not allowing proper freon flow. He says that TRANE has manufatured numerous ones of these that are defective. I am in south Texas and need my AC. Are you familiar with this???? He says this is affecting people all over the place here...

sounds like BS..... maybe affecting the units his company put in due to poor install procedure. we need more info to help you out, what valve? there are 6 or more on a trane condenser.
suction valve head valve compressor valve expansion valve reversing valve check valve
