First off, I'm an architect so forgive me for not knowing what I'm talking about.

Basically I'm trying to expand a kitchen as much as I possibly can, but the HVAC appliances are getting in my way, since there's no basement. My question basically is, what can I do with these appliances to take up less room inside? Can any of them be moved into a unconditioned space (like a shed) that I put up against the house?

This is the plan as it is now, I want to knock out the wall between the kitchen and HVAC.

Here are the systems as they are.

Any help would be appreciated!

Not a simple job. You have a gas fired forced air furnace which needs a chimney and is attached to a set of ductwork. It would require a LOT of planning and $$ to move everything into a proper mechanical room, not a shed. Ductwork would have to be rerouted etc etc. Room would have to meet building code for fire separation etc. Get some advice from a home renovator company if you are serious about it.

I would have installed that condenser a bit closer to that gas meter! I think that is against code unless the vent is piped away from the condenser

We have to stay 3 ft away no matter what. The ventilation/intake air grill looks too close also.

In Ontario we also have to be three feet from the reg. Maybe it is a low pressure line with no reg. But I didn't see a disconnect or liquid tight for the high voltage. If you have enough room outside you could install a package unit.

Be careful sometimes you don't get a second chance

Like the units they have on small commercial strip malls, BKing etc. One box when both A/C and heat units in it. Has 2 ducts (supply and return) that leave the side and go thru the wall of your house. Would require serious modification of the ductwork in the house to connect to it.
