I have a 17 year old Rheem heatpump that I'd like to get a new thermostate installed. I don't know if it is a 1-stage or a 2-stage.

model # RHQA-1605s serial # H M1991 1154

Can you please help me.

99% of heatpumps are multistage.

If you have an emergency heat mode, you have a 2 stage.

If you remove the top of your stat and see W2, Aux or E wired in, you have a multistage.

"Tip of the Day" Remember to remove power first.
