Hi guys, I have an a/c question but its not for residential application but an a/c issue on my 95 accord.

The charge on the car I believe is right b/c I did take it a trusted mechanic of mine to do it.

When the ambient is hot outside (temps that are higher than 75F) the a/c doesn't blow cold at all.

When its nightime and the temps are 65F or less the a/c is colder than hell. The a/c is also really cold when I put water on the condenser during hot spells.

My mechanic can't find any leaks in the a/c system and the system holds refrigerant without a hitch.

Condenser is really clean and evap is clean and there aren't any obvious signs of leaks of any sort (no oil marks anywhere).

why is it that the car cools like a freezer when its cool out and doesn't blow cold or even cool for that matter when hot out?

There is definitely enough refrigerant b/c the sight glass almost has no bubbles in it.

There can't be much moisture in the system or non-condensibles b/c the dryer was replaced and the system was pumped down to 29HGs for over 2 hours.

The only thing that I can think of is:
1. Compressor (only bad I think if the suction is high and the high side is high)
2. TXV - not metering the refrigerant properly (unlikely b/c the system does get really cold in the late evenings/night.
3. Plugged condenser coil. I don't know how this could have happened but b/c of the fine passageways of the coil I'll be that its not exchanging heat efficiently with the ambient air hence why no cooling.

System on the car is R134A.

suggestions?

Have you checked the fan, does your car have a clutch fan or electric fan?

Your fresh air vent is stuck open.

nope fresh air vents flow through the evaporator coil so regardless it should be cold.

So does a return air leak. I"ve seen a stuck damper only cool at night. This obviously isn't your problem since you've checked it.
