Okay. I now have a White-Rodgers 1F85RF-275 installed and (apparently) working. It was a VERY frustrating experience, primarily because their documentation is difficult to follow and contains at least some minor errors and omissions. Mostly it just lacks detail, and I'm not even convinced that a professional HVAC person could always fill in the missing detail if unfamiliar with the particular product. Their phone support was less they entirely helpful. But it now SEEMS to be working.
One major question I have pertains to configuring the thermostat. The instructions say that in order to enter the configuration menu you must press the System button until OFF is displayed, then press the up and down keys simultaneously. BUT THIS RESETS THE THERMOSTAT, and consequently you then have to set ALL OF THE SETTINGS again -- or so it seems to me. AND, the documentation says that if this is done, then you MUST resync the thermostat with the remote sensor by going through the Learn Mode ritual.
This seems to mean that you can't change any of the configuration options (like fast/slow cycle, backlight display, keypad lockout, etc.) without RESETTING the whole thing and going through Learn Mode again. Is this really true? If so, it's about the dumbest config design of anything I've come across: "Sure, you can change to keypad lockout. Just reconfigure the whole system and then go through Learn Mode to sync with all sending units." Really??????

Hi, My wireless 'stat is Honeywell one. It is battery powered and never had any trouble since installed more than a year ago. Even original baterry is still working. By nature non volatile memory holds config. settings. Unless you change settings, it stays put. As an example config.setting does not get lost when replacing battery. My gut tells me something is wrong with your 'stat or on a long shot you may have some option such as master clear is enabled to behave like that. Good luck,
