I have a Bryant furnace and compressor. Every now and then the unit acts a bit funky. The unit will come on when it hits the temp set on the thermostat. The unit will run fine and then the blower will go off and on while the compressor stays running. The compressor will go off when it hits the desire temp . . but during that time the furnace/blower will go on and off several times.

Do you own a meter?
First, measure your cap.
If the cap is okay, verify that voltage is present when your motor drops out.

Caps will hold a charge for 2 or 3 minutes after removing power, wait at least that long before handling it.

"Tip of the Day" Remember to remove power first.

We don't own a meter, but last year we had the same (intermittent) problem and our HVAC contractor used a meter and couldn't find anything wrong. They actually thought it might be the thermostat so they replaced it . . . but we still had the problem about a week later. Since I posted this, the system has worked fine, but I'd like to know why it does this from time-to-time.
