I've noticed that most gas furnaces have the vent connection located within 2 inches of the front of the plenum. Does this require that type B vent be used if the plenum is insulated? The single wall vent requires 6" clearance from combustible materials which I assume includes bubble wrap foil insulation on the plenum.
My old furnace had single wall vent from the type B penetrating the ceiling, but I don't see how this complies with the 6" rule. Thanks.

Type B vent should always be used unless it is a condensate furnace, which uses pvc venting.

Single wall metal vent is dangerous.
