Hi, new to the forum and I think I really screw up this time while trying to install a thermostat. I turned off the circuit breaker for the A/C, then I proceed to remove the old/existing thermostat and skipped (fail to notice) the instruction that said "failure to turn off the power to the existing thermostat before removal could damage your system". While removing the exisitng thermostat, a few wires touch one another and the system started running (@ this point, I had a nasty feeling I am screwed). I put the old thermostat back in place and nothing is working.
Thermostat does not power on? I reset the circuit breaker and still no power to the thermostat. I have a Carrier HVAC system.
Please help before the texas heat wake up. Thanks for reading.

Blown low voltage fuse inside the indoor unit/furnace or you have blown the transformer.

I have a carrier, where is this fuse located? The indoor unit is in the attic but I do not know where to look for the fuse.

Your blade type, automotive, low voltage fuse is on the circuit board in the unit in your attic.
3 amp for gas heat or 5 amp for electric heat.
$3 a pack @ Autozone.
"Tip of the Day" Remember to remove power first.

I had to come back here and say thank you to both Nate and Houston. Found the access panel to the board and opened it up. I found the blown 3 amp fuse, put in a new fuse and turn back the circuit breaker and the condensor power but system would not run (sweating big time by now). So I gave up and called a local HVAC service, they said they can come out Monday (yike, I will be roasted turkey by tonight), call another HVAC service and they said they will come out after lunch (booked appointment w/ them).
In the mean time, I got back into the attic to clean up the mess I created, staring at the furnace and swearing and I suddenly noticed the panel to the board has a switch that when the panel is opened, the unit would not run (it kinda dark up in the attic and I am frustrated all morning). I closed up the panel and what you know, the ac kicked in.
I am the happiest person right now. Thanks all and hope everyone enjoy reading my DIY hiccups.
