Hi all - thanks for taking the time to read my post. And thanks in advance for any help you can give!
For the past week or so the AC in my house did not work. After a few days of researching, and checking out the unit, I found out that my furnace's LED light was blinking. I counted the blinks and found it was status 24 - "Secondary voltage fuse open". As it turns out, the 3A fuse on the control panel was blown. So I replace it.
After replacing the fuse, putting everything back together, and resetting the system control board, the central fan FINALLY came on. I waited until the system finished it's purge mode and flipped the switch on the t-stat to call for cooling. Nothing. I checked the furnace's LED light and I got the same status code! So it looks like the fuse is blown again.
Why does that 3A fuse keep blowing out? Also, when I turn on the system to ask for AC, I can hear the damper or actuator click. Do you think that's what's causing the fuse to blow? Any advice would be greatly appreciated!

Check the control wire to your outdoor unit for damage. If the wires touch each other, they will pop a fuse.

Thanks for your quick reply Houston204. I went outside and checked the AC unit and didn't see any wires as diagrammed in your picture. I also have a yellow jacket colony under the unit so it was hard for me to get close. The AC unit sits on top of a foam plate, and the colony is under the foam - so I don't think the yellow jackets are causing the problem. At least I hope not.
But back on topic, I didn't see any control wires bare in the open - I think they are actually wrapped with some electrical tape. So it was hard for me see if there was any damage.
What kind of damage should I be looking for exactly? The AC did work before in my house. I used it last summer, but haven't tried using it again until now. No one has touched the unit or moved the wires, so is it still possible the wires might have been knocked and are now touching?
Thanks again! I really appreciate it.

ants, and i'm assuming all insects, love contactors, you may actually heve a yellow jacket problem... ironic to anyone with a set of guages.

Your damper system should operate off a different transformer.
You should address the yellow jacket issue before calling a tech to check your system for $90 an hour.
If the control wire is taped up, it may have been damaged in the past.
If you remove the 2 condenser wires from the circuit at your furnace and the problem stops. It points to the condenser control circuit. (With cooling demand)
If your remove the 2 wires from the circuit, entering the condenser, and the problem persists, but it didn't pop when you isolated it at the furnace, it points to the wire I described.
If the problem only occurs with the condenser in the circuit it points to your contactor or pressure switch. Isolate accordingly to locate the short. (Or use a meter)

The house I live in is fairly new, and is just about 3 years old. The controls wires, as far as I know, has always been wrapped like that. Thanks again Houston204 for the tips on how to isolate the problem. I will check it out. The only hassle is that the furnace is up in the attic - and it's not easy getting up there.
However, I think my immediate concern is with the yellow jackets; I will try to get rid of them first. I have also heard that bugs like connectors and contacts - so maybe the yellow jackets are the source of my problem.
Thanks for all the help! I will update when I have removed the yellow jackets.
