I have heard conflicting stories on this topic and wanted to get a solid answer. Basically, I have a small wooden fence that goes around the unit and is about 6 inches of space around it. I understand that concept of providing space around it to allow for air to be "sucked" into the unit. Also, covering the unit with one of those covers is a big no no.

So what is proper? My unit is an eyesore and sits right in our patio area. Just trying to set an nice area without breaking the area. Is there anything I can do to hide it?

hedges are probably a better solution... not holly, on behalf of whoever has to service it.

Unfortuneately, it sits on a paver patio and cannot plant anything around it.

fence shouldn't be any real problem, and will probably help keep your coil clean... better than dirt or weeds around coil.....

I would consider the minimum clearance as stated in the owners manual.

"Tip of the Day" Remember to remove power first.
