Ok sounds like a dumb question. I have a split rheem heat pump that has two side by side condensers all in one packaged unit. The air handler also has no readable info on it. It is aprox 13 years old. I would read the label, however their isn't one and have no manuals.

My house is aprox 3600 sq foot in north carolina. I recently had it serviced by a company that has a good reputation. As part of the service call the repair/sales man told me that it is toward the end of it's life and i should consider replacing it. I know it is on it's last leg. When i asked him what size unit i had. He asked my square footage and said it was probably 5 ton. (not instilling confidence in his reply)

Are the newer units really that much smaller? I am not looking to buy a new heatpump only to find out that the repair man's guess was wrong and this was really a 7.5 ton commerical unit. Thanks in advance.

It's probably a 6 ton.

The unit I serviced (recorded on my ipaq) did not have a legible tag either. It was labeled 6 tons though.

any other suggestions? I have done some searching and have found a newer rheem unit that looks like mine. it is a rpfc commercial 7.5 or 10 ton unit? here is a link to rheem site that has a picture of what mine looks like, no mine is 12+ years old.
