I have an older house with new AC and Furnace. All the vents in the house have a light black discharge around the vents. There is also a fine black film on the windows etc.

I had the furnace replaced when the heat exchanger went bad.

Any idea what is causing the black stuff??

The new furnace probably has a more powerful fan and it is sucking more air thru the return ducts. If there is any leakage into them it may be pulling dust from the attic or wherever they run thru. And/or the ducts need a good professional duct cleaning by a reputable company, not some cheap a*s blow and go guys.

It's probably if you are burning the "smelly" candles in your home. I get alot of that. It makes a soot that gets on everything. My wife use to burn them and i had the same thing. Try using a warmer plate with the candles.
