My outside unit will shut off on its own while the inside handler is still running. I checked the contactor and its out after awhile it will run on its own again. Question is i was told there is a timer for the outside unit and i replaced the tmstat to a new honeywell do i have to rewire the outside unit for it to work proply.Thanks for your time.

Sounds like a safety switch is shutting down the outdoor unit. Try washing the condenser and changing the filter. If that doesn't work call a service company.
