i got a testo 523 guage and the temp. probe hooks on to the suction line at the condensor. how far out will my superheat readings be?

First congratulations on getting a quality manifold. There should be no problem obtaining accurate superheat or subcooling readings. You'll be able to read the SH and SC right away and watch the changes as they occur.
Recommendations do a word search for Testo 523 there are a couple other forums that discuss digital manifolds. Plus Jim Bergmann Testo technical rep visits those sites dispensing information.
