"Trying to wire a Totaline P274, help!" , posted Mon 21 Jul 10:26

Old thermostat broke so got a Totaline P274. The colored wires out of the wall are: white, black, orange, blue and red. Will these wires work with this thermostat? And which color do I hook up to which spot?

To be sure you have the correct thermostat, please tell us the type of heating/cooling system you have. Heat pump? Furnace and simple AC?

Next, go to where the furnace/air handler is located. Find those thermostat wires and look at the terminal labels to which they connect. The terminals could be R, C, G, Y, O, W. Tell us what thermostat wire color connects to what terminal letter.
