I have three Lennox ACs, two work fine but the 3rd one, which services the 3rd floor, is a wall unit and the condensor unit outside makes a terrible grinding noise upon startup. I called a repairman last year but could not find anything wrong with it. This year it started tripping the braker. The compressor was replaced 1 month ago and now the noise is starting again. It sounds like it's having a hard time starting up but once it's up and running it does fine. Lennox's customer support is poor and my extended warranty does not cover "noisy" equipment. I'm just concerned it's going to fail again. Any ideas?

how old is the equipment, we are lennox dealers in nc ,if this unit serves 3 rd floor it could be the length of tubing that connects the 2 units together , as special instructions need to be followed after the tubing exeeds 50 ft , also may need other components installed , you may need to get model #s and line lengths and contact applications dept , good luck

Thank you for your prompt reply! The equipment is less than 5 years old, model number 13ACC-030-230-01. I tried calling the consumer service line in Texas but they have a 30minute hold line (will try tomorrow, after I try and measure the distance). What is the applications department?

thats really the tech support dept , iknow that customer support is a long wait as many of those people have no clue about ac problems , its just an ear to be vented on , was the co that installed it a lennox dealer or was the builder just a nation account ? you may need to call a dealer in your area and get the tm involved , good luck and let me know
