I have a Bryant Plus 90 with a HK42FZ011 control board. The 3 amp fuse blows when the unit is in cool mode. Fuse does not blow when in fan mode or heat mode. I am also using a Honeywell programable thermostat. I closed the contactor on the outdoor AC unit and it started with no problems. Does the contol board require a 3A slow blow fuse? Any other thoughts would be appreciated.

thanks

If the system is a heat pump check the low voltage wiring inside the condenser by taking the fan off. One of the wires may have rubbed up against the copper and shorted. Also the reversing valve coil can be drawing heavy amps and blowing the fuse. If it is an air conditioner and not a heat pump you simply have a short in the low voltage wiring somewhere.

Uses a 3 amp auto type only. Check the low voltage wiring to the out door unit. May have been hit by weedwhacker, chewed by rodents or the dog. Sounds like you got a short in it.
