Hello, I have a esternal unit that is not working, It makes noise but the fan does not turn. It is going to cost 6k to replace entire Heat/Air unit. I can not afford that. I have replace a few fans and thermos in my days and I was wondering if replacing the motor in the external unit would fix this prob.I Will post the info on unit. below. Thanks for any help in advance.

Hi, First Check voltage to contactor coil 24vac when calling for cooling, then check 240vac on both sides of contactor, is fan motorn really Hot to touch?, is contactor pulling in when calling for cooling?, is compressor running?

If you hear a buzzing noise, it's probably the 24 volt calling.... probably a bad capacitor, or contactor.

Hi,
First is to diagnose the symptom, not replacing things.
Like do you have a power to the unit? Is the control lead to the
unit showing proper voltage when colling is called for?, etc., etc.
