I am still learning HVAC, but went and checked a friends house and am puzzled by the reading and am looking for a cause.

Outside Ambient = 73 degree
Air entering evaporator = 61 degree wet bulb
Condensor Discharge = 195 psi (100 degree saturation)
Compressor Suction = 68 psi (40 degree saturation)
Liquid Line @ Evaporator = 83 degrees
Vapor Return @ Evaporator = 40 degrees
Vents = 50 degrees

I see 17 degrees of Subcooling and 0 degrees of Superheat.

The paperwork I have suggests 13 degrees of Superheat at these conditions

I removed the dirty filter - no change (Filter was very dirty)

The unit wasn't running when I entered the house - so I don't THINK it was froze up.

Compressor? Overcharged? Dirty Evaporator?

If someone could give me a hand, I would appreciate it.

Thanks.

Sounds like it's a little overcharged If the evaporator is clean and airflow is good.
