The problem is in a manufactured home. I have a problem when in the cool mode somtimes when the thermostat is satisfied the compressor will go off, but the fan still running. I have to go over to the box where the fan relay is located, and contactor. I rap it with the palm of my hand and fan goes off. Somtimes in the middle of the night the fan starts running, but no compressor. I rap the box again fan goes off. Sometimes unit will not come on untill I rap the box.Sometimes the compressor comes on but no fan inside. Sometimes the darn thing works perfect for a couple of days, and then starts acting up in the ways I have mentioned.Sometimes a week or so goes by , and runs good then acts up.(I am sure the problem is in the box somewhere hahahaha)
This all started back in the begining of this summer. I had a AC man come out and he replaced the fan relay. worked good untill about a month, and started doing the same thing again that I have mentioned. I had the AC mancome back out and he replaced the fan relay again, but 3 days latter same problem.He asked if I had had any brown outs. He said somtimes he puts a relay in and has to go back to customers house next week due to brown outs. I dont think california has had any brown out this year, maybe a flicker here and there. I read in one of your forums that a person wrote in and had somewhat of the same problem. Had a coleman evcon. He was instructed to look for a summer/winter switch. I cant find one on this unit, just a black togle switch that kills the fan when its running and you swith it off. If you need more info I can get it for you.

Need more info about this box. Where is this box located you are rapping? The contactor is usually located inside the condenser unit (out side) along with the rest of the controls for the out side unit. If you are rapping the electrical disconnect, I'd be very careful because that's the only box located on the out side of the unit where I'm from.

Thanks for reply silvertop. The boxes I am raping with my hand are located in the airhandler where the heater and fan are located by the back door of moblie home. The bottom box has a transformer and a black togle switch that seems to cut power to t-stat. The box I rap with my hand is locted directly above, and has a fan relay, and I thought it was a contactor, but it might just be another relay with alot of wires connected to it. This box has the wiring diagram for the AC ontop of it. I have not did anything to the codenser unit outside. I thought it might be a dirty contactor not able to drop out when turned off, but when the AC didnt come on one time until I rapped the box with my hand, I figured it cant be a gummed up contactor armature. Well hope this helps you, I can get more info if needed.

Sounds like another relay gone bad, company could have purchased a bad lot, happens. Never heard of a winter/summer switch.

Thanks for the reply. The unit has not acted up all day today. AC man came out and tighten all conections, and said if it acts up again call him that he would try to come right out if possible. thanks again. I will keep you posted.
