I am trying to add manual fan capability to my Lux TX9000TS. I've had the thermostat wired as a 2 wire (to a Rheem RHQA-1215T electric furnace), but have just discovered that there are more wires at the furnace than I thought. (The previous owner / previous thermostat just used two wires. I don't recall the make/model of the previous thermostat.)
The furnace doesn't have a wiring diagram, and I can't find one online. It has the following wires.
Yellow - this is connected to a Red wire going to the thermostat, and then connected to the W terminal (consistent with the old thermostat)
Black (Labeled W, and connected to a white wire, then connected to the RH terminal).
Black (labeled G)
Also Brown, Purple, White.
The heating guy connected the black wire labeled G to the green wire that goes to the thermostat. He also tried connecting the wire to the other black going to the furnace and the fan came on. I don’t have access to him for a few weeks and would like to see if I can get this solved soon – to allow the fan to run during this hot weather.
I connected the green wire to the G terminal as described in the TX9000TS instructions, but the fan switch didn’t work. I tried touching it to the W terminal (equivalent to what the heating guy did) and of course it came on.
Is there any way you can tell me which other wires to connect up, or how to determine what to do? I’m a bit nervous with the warnings about common wires in the instructions.
Thanks Mike
