Hello guys,my mom have a 4 ton trane 10 seer heat pump.The compressor is malfunctioning. I would like to know if another manufacturer 4 ton 10seer condensor is compatable and the wiring match up. Thank you.

Yes and no. Almost any manufacturer's 10 SEER condenser will work fine with other manufacturer's evaporators. However, there are no longer any manufacturers making 10 SEER equipment. For the last couple years the minimum efficiency (set by the government) has been 13 SEER, which in not going to match up with the 10 SEER evaporator.
There are some contractors who are replacing outdoor units only and mismatching efficiencies, and claiming they work just fine. But testing indicates that the mismatched systems have less cooling capacity (by as much as 20%) and have potential refrigerant delivery problems which could be damaging to the compressor. Furthermore, many manufacturers are not honoring warranties on condensers that are not properly matched with the indoor units.
