5-common
2-Start
1-Run

Just like on a compressor 5 to common on contactor, 2 to hermetic side of run capacitor, 1 thru start capacitor to common on run capacitor.

Common Start Run >>> just like on a compressor.

I think of it as kinda of a poem.

One goes to Run through the start cap.
2 goes to Start.
Five is Common.

I wouldn't call either of the diagrams good, but I have a couple.

The Trane does not post the terminal numbers though...

The Carrier diagram posts both a start thermistor and a hard start kit on this diagram. It is either or, not both.
