Just wondering if you read the post about water in the system below this one. Is it possible to get 2 gallons inside. I know it can be very humid down South but have you ever heard of this and how can it happen.

Cheers

Yuri

I recently came across a 1 1/2 ton HP that had a lot of water in the buried line set (at atmo psi) but never anything out of the box. And the statemment about purging the system with oil was a new on for me too. I would suspect that either the person didn't know what they were talkiking about or the installer trying to protect their screw up.

I've seen buried gas lines fill with water between the meter, behind the detached garage, and the house. I suppose if the pressure went into a vacuum it could pull in water if we have buried lines.

I've seen leaks really low on the evaporator coil before, again if were to run into a vacuum it could pull in water from the primary pan.

Both seem like longshots though.

Thats what I was thinkin. A/Cs don't usually pull deep vacuums like refrigeration compressors can so I find it hard to believe it can suck in that much water. What a mess.

The message said they used an "oil vacuum" with 8 bottles of water? What's that all about?

Apparently they used 8 bottles of oil. Maybe their vacuum pump barfed/pumped its oil into the system and not water. Never heard of an oil vacuum. Somethings fishy.

yuri i think he meant that they used 8 bottles of oil from changing the oil in the pump because they were pulling so much moisture out of the system

Probably. Easy to troubleshoot when on the job, hard to do over the internet. 2 gallons of water. Sure would like to know how it got in.
