I purchased two brand new goodman 2 ton heat pumps and variable speed air handlers two weeks ago from a local service company. This morning, one of the units could not maintain a 78 degree temperature, so we called for service. We've been told the condensor coil had a "stress crack" and was soldered to seal the leak. My question is, why not a new evaporator coil? Is it normal to repair or replace? I just spent major $$$ not to have leaking condensors, and here we go again, after two weeks??? I'd hate to wait 6 months to find out I have a defective pump and have to pay for the labor to repair.
